Reimagining Culture – Gujo Kaido, Mino

Reviving a culture of appreciating crafts and enjoying the changing seasons ➡ Creating new “stories” that bring traditional crafts into modern life
In Japan, people have long enjoyed combining the changing seasons with traditional crafts, inspired by seasonal traditions such as the Five Seasonal Festivals and the Twenty-Four Solar Terms—for example, pairing cherry-blossom viewing bento with handcrafted sake ware. We recreated this tradition as “Kogei Yusan,” with the winter solstice as its theme.
Along with fascinating stories about crafts and their place in contemporary life,
we held a Tenshin tea gathering inspired by the winter solstice.
